Our Story, Mission, and Values

PharmaBioSource was born when our founder and CEO, William (Bill) Wiederseim, was engaged to divest several pharmaceutical manufacturing sites for a multinational pharmaceutical company.

The client needed engineering expertise to evaluate the manufacturing facilities and equipment, but they also engaged a global real estate firm and a financial consulting firm to handle the rest of the consolidation. When the client observed how much quicker and more efficient the divestment could be if a single firm understood pharmaceutical manufacturing, the financials of running a manufacturing operation, and how to execute site and facility divestments, Bill ran with the idea.

He assembled a team of pharma industry executives, engineers, scientists, and finance and manufacturing operations experts with years of industry experience. Bill launched PharmaBioSource, a specialized firm capable of spearheading biopharma asset transactions from conception to close.

Now, 25 years later, PharmaBioSource has grown into a multinational team with a presence on three continents, with over 100 transactions involving therapeutic assets and pharmaceutical facilities, totaling over $5 billion in value.

— Bill Wiederseim, CEO

Our Values

Our values guide everything we do. They are the foundation of how PharmaBioSource works as a life sciences transaction advisory firm.

Integrity

We represent the client’s interests, even when that means recommending that a deal not move forward. We deliver senior-led mandates, maintain strict process confidentiality, and produce outcomes that withstand investment-committee scrutiny. We work on transactions that close on the right terms.

Passion

Our advisors chose this industry, and most spent 20–30 years in it before joining the firm. The team focuses on pharma and biotech transactions because the work is interesting and the industry matters. Operating fluency, regulatory complexity, and modality-specific economics keep the work substantive even after decades of practice.

Excellence

PharmaBioSource advisors come from the industries they now serve. Operating experience in pharma, biotech, and life sciences manufacturing underpins every engagement, and senior-led mandates ensure the same advisor who scopes the work runs it through to close. Clients engage PharmaBioSource for operator-grade analysis, technical fluency, and the network of relationships that close pharmaceutical and biotech transactions.

Agility

Pharma transactions are subject to regulatory, capital, and counterparty timing the client can’t control. PharmaBioSource structures around those constraints rather than against them. When timing shifts, scope changes, or a counterparty re-trades, the team re-sequences the work without losing the path to a clean close.

Boldness

PharmaBioSource proposes the structure that fits the deal, not the one that fits the playbook. Earnouts, milestone payments, sale-leasebacks, royalty tails, and contingent value rights are tools the team uses when the transaction needs them.

Talk to advisors who’ve been inside the industry, not outside it

The PharmaBioSource team built careers inside pharma and biotech operations, engineering, finance, and regulatory leadership. Talk to a senior advisor about a transaction in motion, an evaluation in progress, or a decision you’re working through.
